LOTOJA 2010...

At the start line...bright an early!

Doug trained hard this past year to be in top form for LOTOJA...he did amazing even with less than perfect circumstances. He'd had a stomach virus for the a week or so leading up to the race and it hadn't subsided much come race day, he had been in Barbados 2 days before race day (can we say a wee bit of jet lag) and below is a picture of pedal with the cleat from his riding shoe still attached. After a small crash at feed zone 6....thank you old dude who pulled in front of my husband and caused the crash...he was forced to finish the last 47 miles to Jackson riding with one riding shoe and his running shoe on the foot that had the cleat ripped off. While he didn't make the time he was hoping for he still beat last years time by 20 minutes. He says this was his last year riding LOTOJA....my bet....don't bet on it!!

The pedal with cleat still attached.

Coming into the finish line at Teton Village.

It's hard to see but look close and you can see one black shoe (that is his riding shoe) and one white running shoe. Quite the fashion statement but it made the last 47 miles of a total 206 a whole hell of a lot harder.

Way to go babe, the boys and I are proud of you!

Leave it to Doug to just power through and finish with one bike shoe! Congrats on the sweet time. Oh, and I'm sure this was our last Wasatch Back too...

Way to go Doug! That's a story for the books. I'm glad the only major casualty was the shoe! Next September I'll love reading about the come back :)
