Today was a big day at our house....we said so long to our ever constant companions, that's right the BINKYS!!! (otherwise known as "bean-tees" in our house) We have needed to get rid of them for awhile now and today ended up being the day. With the help of a bribe (I am not above bribing my children) a toy motorcycle to be exact the twins willingly tossed their binks into the big outside garbage can. Let me clarify Baden willing chucked it, Noah wasn't so sure. As Baden was heading outside Noah sat at the kitchen counter with a tight grip on his "bean-tee" shaking his head and looking seriously worried. Once they saw the motorcycles they both decided it was a fair trade.
The funny thing is when it came time to go to bed who was the most distraught about his decision...that would be Baden. Noah asked a few times but seemed to accept that they were in the garbage and I wasn't going to retrieve them. Poor Baden was super sad he cried and cried (for like 3 minutes tops) before drifting off to sleep.
Another milestone....sometimes it is the little ones that remind you how fast time flies and how quickly they grow.
*Update - the second night without the binkys both boys cried and cried until both Doug & I had to lie down with them until the fell asleep. Nap times are hit and miss....but we are holding strong. I have not yet become desperate enough to go dumpster diving.

Oh, your boys are so dang cute. Way to go on the binkys! Any advice for what to do with Livie's thumb?
hey, I'm glad you found my blog. It's so fun to see how your family is doing. Your little guys are so cute. We have gone back and forth on getting rid of the binky. I have some people that tell me that I should get rid of it now and some that say I should just let her keep it until three. Maybe if I get really brave...
Bribery, the mother's best friend! Good luck with this milestone.
Oh the binky terrors. You love them and hate them at the same time. I feel for as we had to do it for Joseph and Hannah. Not fun at the time!!
Way to go, Kirstin. Sometimes I think taking away a binky is almost harder on the parent than it is on the child! I was so sad after I took Bruce's away...But at least they got a treat out of it.
