{celebrating in style}

* Happy 4th of July *

Earlier in the week the boys and I made special shirts they could wear on "FIREWORK DAY". With some freezer paper and paint we turned out some mighty fine looking shirts. The boys had a lot of messy fun painting them and were excited to have something special to wear for the holiday. By the end of the day those shirt wore the stains of a day full of good food and lots of fun.

I remember as a kid begging and pleading to light the fireworks and the adults telling us we had to wait for it to get dark. In a kids world that is like FOREVER!!! Jackson was so excited for "firework day". He started asking around 10 a.m. when it was going to be time to light fireworks. So at about 7 p.m. (and while still dressed in his swimming suit) he set to work on some sparklers, that and some flowers held him off until it got a little bit darker and was finally time to start our little driveway firework show.

We set our fireworks atop a ladder and settled in for a spectacular little show. Minus a few windy mishaps the ladder made even the littlest fireworks seem all the more AWESOME!!

Jackson and his Aunt Noel...they are a wacky pair!!

We ended the night by walking down to the church on the corner which is the PERFECT place to watch the Sugarhouse firework show. We brought our trusty wagon and a few blankets and enjoyed the grand finale. What and AWESOME day!!

Love the ponytails in the previous blog entry. Glad you had fun on the fourth. We sure miss the convenience of walking down the street and watching the Sugarhouse fireworks from there! We also started fireworks a little early at our house. The kids kept asking and asking when it was going to be dark enough to do fireworks.

Super cute shirts, Kirstin! They turned out really well. I'm glad you had a fun 4th-O-July. I love doing driveway fireworks. I love that you did sparklers. They are classic. My brother used to put on a big show for us when I was little, but we haven't done them in so long!
