Jackson likes to collect things. For instance I have a bowl full of rocks on my counter. During most of the summer we had a pile of sticks by the back porch that we had collected on our daily walks. The newest addition is this bag of seed pods from Grandma's tree. See my mom has this gigantic tree in her front yard, I have no idea what kind of tree it is but it drops these pods in the fall. I remember when we were kids we would bust them open to get the seeds out or put them in the spokes of our bike tires to make noise. Grandma watched my boys Saturday morning so I could get some cleaning done (after our week of drywall). To keep Jackson busy they decided to clean up all the pods that had fallen. Grandma tried to talk Jackson into throwing his bag of pods away but he was having none of that, he brought the whole bag home. They are currently sitting in the basement and Jackson informs me we are going to paint them. So if anyone has any creative ideas on how we can use our stash of pods we are now taking suggestions. I have a feeling Jackson may be one of those kids that goes to clean out his room when he is leaving for college and finds stuff he has had stashed away since elementary school. Who knows I may be digging up a painted pod from the back of his closest in say 15 years.

Oh boy. Lots of seed pods. I'll have to look in my nature craft book to see if it has anything listed under "giant seed pod." I have a feeling it will...
it is a locust tree
